ZZAZZL: LANGUAGE
The Zzazzl can speak in a hoarse, raspy voice, but can also communicate with members of their own species telepathically. This telepathy travels extremely far and occupies a single mental "frequency", and thus entire communities are all on the same giant "party line". Other races regard this as an invasion of privacy, but to the Zzazzl it is a sort of collective consciousness, and they use telepathy to constantly relay data back to the swarm.
